Easter Hampers

18 Apr 2023

Parishioners at Immanuel for the second year in a row have worked hard to make Easter for a few struggling families a joy.  Coordinators Faye Metz and Marilyn Forster reached out to the Al Ritchie Health Centre, who provided the information required about the families who were most in need.   Many people brought items for the hampers, and others donated funds to make this important outreach a reality.

Easter chicks and bunnies were busy on April 5, when the 8 large hampers were assembled and delivered.  More than 20 people showed up to pack turkeys or ham, fresh, frozen and canned vegetables, milk, bread, and fresh fruit as well as many more toiletries and food items. When all was ready a delivery crew loaded and delivered these hampers. By 1pm that day, 8 families could fill their fridges and cupboards for Easter.

The picture below shows just a few of the people who delivered the hampers, with some of the boxes.  We forgot to take pictures beforehand of all of the good things going into the hampers – something to do better next year!

Thanks to our coordinators Faye and Marilyn, and Maureen Pardoe for her help with communications including the great bulletin board!

Here are some pictures of the church all dressed up for Easter Joy!
